Volunteer with April’s Kittens

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 16 years old (volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian's consent)

  • Attend a volunteer orientation

  • Be reliable and committed to scheduled shifts

  • Follow all safety and sanitation protocols

  • Treat every animal with patience and compassion

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Kennel Care & Cleaning

    • Cleaning cat condos and kennels

    • Washing food and water dishes

    • Refreshing litter boxes

    • Laundry and disinfecting supplies

    • Restocking food and cleaning materials

  • Cat Socialization

    • Petting and brushing cats

    • Playing with toys

    • Helping shy cats build confidence

    • Monitoring behavior and appetite

    • Providing enrichment

  • Kitten Care

    • Feeding kittens

    • Cleaning nursery areas

    • Changing bedding

    • Giving baths

    • Monitoring growth

    • Socializing young kittens

    Bottle baby feeding opportunities are available for experienced volunteers after additional training.

  • Transporting

    • Picking up and dropping off cats for spay/neuter and other veterinary appointments

    • Picking up and dropping off cats for rescue transports

    • Transporting cats between foster homes, the rescue, and veterinary clinics

    • Assisting with other transportation needs as they arise, including emergency pickups or special medical transports

  • Adoption Lounge Volunteer

    Help visitors find their perfect match by:

    • Greeting guests

    • Answering questions

    • Introducing adoptable cats

    • Assisting with meet-and-greets

    • Keeping adoption rooms tidy

  • Donations & Inventory

    • Organizing donations

    • Stocking supplies

    • Sorting food and litter

    • Preparing foster supply kits

    • Managing inventory

  • Photography & Social Media

    • Photograph adoptable cats

    • Create social media content

    • Film rescue stories

    • Share adoption success stories

    • Assist with marketing projects

  • Events & Fundraising
